New Business Requirements
These are the Community Development requirements when starting a new business in Dallas.
- Paulding County Fire Marshall Inspection Report- (For commercial or home daycare business only) (770-222-1160)
- FOG Application: Fats, Oils, and Grease (i.e. restaurants, bakeries, food truck)
- Grease Trap Inspection- Contact FOG Inspector (770-443-8110, ext. 1502).
- Sign Permit- If applicable
- Certificate of Appropriateness- Any reconstruction or alteration to the size, shape, or facade of historic property must go through the Historic Preservation Commission for approval. (Contact Brandon Rakestraw 770-443-8110 ext. 1401)
- Certificate of Occupancy Inspection
- Certificate of Occupancy Fee- A $50 fee. Cash, check, credit card accepted, payable to “City of Dallas”
- Utilities- has water and sewer been established with the city and/or county?
- Appropriate Zoning- Business must meet zoning requirements per zoning ordinance
- Food Service Permit- If applicable, contact the Environmental Health Department. (770-443-7877 Selena.Colton@dph.ga.gov)
- Georgia Department of Agriculture License- (i.e. cottage food, food sales, animal establishment) Apply for state license
- Address Verification- If applicable
- Building Permits- If applicable
Please note that all changes of use are subject to the Change of Use regulations in Section 1.04 of the Unified Development Code. This typically means that, at minimum, a site plan is required for any change of use; occupancy of a building that has been deemed abandoned or vacant for more than (12) months; new buildings; or expansion of a building beyond 35% of existing footprint.
